I'm probably way late to the scene, but I found a product called WindowBlinds, that can essentially skin your desktop to make it look like Windows XP. It also makes use of Start11, another piece of Stardock software.
I'm having so much fun on my PC again. I've got Blink-182's "Take off your pants and jacket" album blasting on Windows Media Player (I'm ripping the CD to my library as I write). I've got Old School Runescape on in the background, chopping willow trees. I'm working on adding 88x31s to my website - using Notepad++, of course.
It's nice that I can unlock this piece of nostalgia. It's been like.. literally 20 years since my computer felt like this. Felt fun. Felt like it was _mine_. Everything is so subscription based on browser based now. It's nice to have control over my machine again. I even broke out the 4:3 aspect ratio for optimum nostalgia.
